Zombies Invade Alaska: WYAK's first Contest!

49 Writers' youth division: Write Young Alaska (WYAK) is excited to announce its very first writing contest specifically for youth! The theme? Zombies invade Alaska! So sharpen your pencils and put your imagination to work. We want your best writing, submitted to wyakcontests@gmail.com between August 15 and September 2, 2011.

We want your best zombie themed Alaskan writing, poetry or prose, fiction or non. We'll publish all entries at our WYAKContests webpage so the world can read them, and we'll post the finalists at 49 Writers. We're excited to annouce that Sean Schubert, author of recent the Alaskan Zombie themed novel Infection, will offer an autographed copy of his book to our winner. But the main goal, of course, is to have fun.

The rules:

1. Entries must conform to our editorial policy (see below).
2. We need your real name, real email address, and real age. If you want your entry to be posted under a pseudonym or left anonymous, make that clear in your email.
3. All entrants must be under 18 years of age.
4. No more than three entries per person.
5. No more than 800 words per entry (shorter is just fine with us: limerick, haiku, opening lines).
6. Entries must be your own original work.
7. You keep the copyright, of course, but by entering you're giving us permission to post.
8. Content and language should be appropriate for online readers of all ages.
9. This is our contest. We make the rules (that's the beauty of blogging, folks), and the rules may change as we see fit. We'll let you know if they do.
10. All entries must be emailed to wyakcontests@gmail.com by midnight on September 2.
